The SYNCO Wireless Lavalier Microphone P1L is the latest microphone to come into the Musician Nerd studio for testing, and boy, were we excited to give it a try. This is a new age we're living in, where social media is everything. When I first entered the audio world, I was mostly involved in recording music and vocal tracks. Still, as time evolved, I branched off into the microphone space and learned about the many applications these devices hold.
The P1L is an excellent example of that. I've helped YouTubers and TikTok creators find the best audio equipment for their needs. Still, over the last several years, I've noticed more and more companies developing microphones with this exact purpose in mind. Wireless lavaliers have become very popular thanks to their simplicity and versatility, and the P1L is an excellent example.
I enjoy some characteristics of the P1L that I'm excited to talk about, but for this review, we're going to put this one under a microscope. It's a competitive space with a wide range of prices, and the P1L is not the cheapest on the market, but that's not a bad thing at all. I've noticed too many companies developing cheap alternatives that lack quality, so today, we're going to find out if the P1L is giving us exactly what we pay for.
The SYNCO P1L has a lot to offer, despite it's small stature. At around 2 inches, the P1L is easy to clip onto your clothing and has a professional look that won't do too much to stand out. I wore it with several different types of clothing and had no issues getting it to stay on my body as I moved around while also picking up my voice with ease.
The model I demoed is compatible with any modern iPhone or iPad device, and they have a helpful chart on their Amazon page so that you can verify it will work with your device. You can tap into the connected microphone when working with various applications, including TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat.
The sound performance is what impressed me the most. My audio was crystal clear, able to hear the subtle details in my voice, with a present mid-range frequency that gave my voice a professional sound. Even better was when I tested it outside, I could still hear myself clearly over all the background noise.
The microphone transmission to the receiver works exactly as described by SYNCO. They claim you can get a 150m distance with a stable connection, which we had to test. They utilize Syncoder 3.0 & the DSP chip intelligence to ensure this 2.4GHz wireless microphone can keep your connection stable while transmitting clear audio.
You'll also be able to use real-time monitoring by plugging into the USB-C port of the receiver. For those of you working at a distance this may not be as useful to you, but what I thought was really interesting was that you can also plug a phone charger into the receiver and charge your phone.
The battery on the P1L is also impressive. You get up to 5 hours on the microphone with a full charge. This is going to be plenty for most people, but if not, you can charge it up again while taking a break. The microphone can charge up to the full battery in just an hour and a half, which means when you're going to get lunch, you can come back to a fully charged P1L!
The receiver, on the otherhand, is less of an issue. It charges while recording so you never need to worry about that.
What's even more notable is that the case charges the microphone as well! This feature is extremely convenient as you can make sure your microphone is charging any time it isn't being actively used. According to SYNCO, every 10 minutes of charging in the case will give you 45 minutes of use-time with the microphone.
The SYNCO P1L was built for a specific purpose, making it easier to record audio for content creators. The first significant advantage is that you're getting quality sound with a minimal setup. Using a traditional microphone has many benefits, but it's outside of the budget for many creators. If you want to move around, perhaps make videos out, you need something that can stay with you.
Lavaliers make this a lot easier by clipping right to your clothing. Since the SYNCO P1L is a wireless microphone, it's effortless to keep it subtle while still recording your voice for your videos. You can move up to 150m away from the receiver and still have a stable connection to the microphone. This gives you the flexibility to make your content exactly how you want it.
On top of that, the P1L includes 9 vocal effects, such as Studio TX, KTV FX, Voice Amplification, EDM, Baby FX, Male to Female, Female to Male, and Monster FX. That's a pretty wide list of effects that give you more flexibility to add a little fun to your content.
While the P1L was made for content creators, that's not the only group of people who can benefit. If you have anything to gain from using a lavalier microphone that records into your phone, the P1L will work for you. This could mean interviews or possibly public speaking depending on how overboard you're willing to go.
Overall there's only one potential downside that I wouldn't even call a downside. Before buying, I highly encourage you to make sure your device is compatible as a friend of mine had an iPad and iPhone that were dated and unable to take advantage of this microphone & receiver. For newer iPhones and iPads, this shouldn't be an issue, but it's in your best interest to verify compatibility.
In terms of the microphone quality and performance I have nothing bad to say. The sound quality is great and works well even under bad conditions such as outdoor sounds & wind.

Best Used For
By now, you should have a better idea of whether or not the SYNCO P1L is the right microphone for you or not. I, for one, found it to be very practical and easy to use, and if I were still involved with content creation, I would have a lot of fun with this. I highly encourage giving this one a shot for those of you jumping onto the TikTok wave, as it'll allow you to do more with less of a hassle. Far too often, I see creators moving lavalier microphones from one person to the next with a whole lot of wind coming in from the back. Don't let that be you!
If you're working more stationary and want something more heavy-duty, we encourage you to check out our list on the best YouTube microphones, as they can offer you better sound quality at a higher price.
